Dilley’s
Hardwood boards being laid across the floor, row by row

Hardwood flooring installation

Solid or engineered, unfinished or prefinished, installed by the same crew that refinishes them, which means the finish work is right the first time. Warranties included.

Solid vs. engineered, prefinished vs. unfinished

The right answer depends on the room, the subfloor, and how long you want the floor to last. We walk the house with you and say what we’d put in each room, and why.

Solid hardwood

The traditional choice: one piece of wood, sandable for decades. Best for living areas over wood subfloors. Oak, maple, cherry, and exotic species in many widths.

Engineered hardwood

Layered construction that handles moisture and temperature swings better, a strong fit for kitchens and basements. Today’s engineered floors from Mirage, Kahrs, and Inhaus are real wood, top to bottom.

Unfinished, finished on site

Installed raw, then sanded and finished in your home. Custom stain matched to your trim and taste, one continuous surface, and the ability to repair seamlessly later.

Prefinished

Factory-finished boards installed and ready: faster, less disruption, and factory warranties on the finish. A great option when the house is occupied.

Herringbone entry floor with dark stain

The custom work most shops pass on

Stairs with dark treads and painted risers. Herringbone and parquet entries. Borders and inlays that frame a room. Random-width pegged floors. If you’ve been told “nobody does that anymore.” We do, and there are photos of it in our gallery.
